Advanced Bat Survey Techniques
This three day course is aimed at ecological consultants involved in undertaking professional level bat surveys. The course introduces participants to the practical elements of advanced bat survey techniques such as trapping free flying bats and radio tracking mainly for the purposes of obtaining bat related data to inform development related projects and/or land management activities.
Over three afternoons and nights attendees will be given theoretical and practical experience of trapping bats using harp traps, mist nets and lures, radio-tracking and data analysis. The course will investigate the application of these techniques in line with the 3rd Edition of BCT’s Bat Surveys for Professional Ecologists: Good Practice Guidelines. The course is suitable for experienced bat surveyors wishing to gain practical experience towards obtaining advanced bat survey licences.
