Bats: Ecology & Survey Techniques
Learn about bats and how we survey them under the guidance of Education/Adult Learning Officer and ‘everything bat’ enthusiast Emma Rothwell. She will begin the evening in the classroom where she will discuss the 17 British species of bat including their life cycle, habitat and feeding patterns. She will then teach you how the Surrey Wildlife Trust’s Ecology Services team conducts professional bat surveys using the latest technology to record their findings.
It will then be your turn to conduct a survey using this equipment. Bring a chair, torch, blanket and a flask for your hour in the woods monitoring the bat activity of Nower Wood.
Finally, you will reconvene in the classroom at the end of the evening to discuss your findings over a well deserved cuppa.
