Geology and Scenery in Perthshire

Please note that this is a non-residential course only and meals are not included. If you would like information on local accommodation, please contact us on 01475 530581 and we will be happy to discuss the options with you.

This weekend course mixes field excursions, classroom lectures and practical activities to offer an introduction to the geology of the area. We will look at glacial deposits, and a range of ancient rocks that represent the roots of a great mountain range as well as its erosional remains. A great location to see a variety of fascinating rocks in the field.

Fiona McGibbon is an Open University Associate Lecturer in Earth Sciences. She is an experienced field and classroom teacher and has a long connection with Kindrogan. An expert in petrology, she provides specialist services to archaeologists and works with local artists too.
