Introduction to Mosses and Liverworts

For this three day course we will examine the main differences between mosses and liverworts and also learn to identify significant groups. With the aid of keys and field guides you will learn to identify a range of species. There will also be an emphasis on the use of microscopes. Locally we will explore a variety of semi-natural and man-made habitats where an abundance of bryophytes can be found.

Theo Loizou is a an ecological consultant and is currently the Bryophyte Vice-County Recorder for Angus. He has over 20 years’ experience studying the mountain environment.
