Living Willow Domes and Tunnels

Willow domes and tunnels are a fantastic way to naturally enhance the play value of an area. Spend the day at Testwood Lakes and team build a dome and tunnel which can be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

Learn the basics about:

  • The basics about willow as a species
  • How to plan a willow construction
  • Build your own small living willow construction in a bucket to take home
  • Visit the living willow structures at Testwood Lakes and demonstrate how to build a dome and tunnel
  • The basics about how to care for and maintain your willow structure

You will plan and build your own small living willow construction in a bucket which you can take home at the end of the course and learn the basics of how to care and maintain your new willow structure.

Particularly suitable for school or nursery staff, or anyone with an interest in living willow structures, you will leave with the design and build knowledge required for recreating something similar in your own education or play space..

You will leave with the skills and techniques required to create a living willow structure in your own education or play space.

Is this course for me?
This course is particularly suitable for anyone with an interest in living willow structures, School and Nursery staff, no experience necessary. You will leave with the skills to plan, build and maintain your own simple living willow structures.

When and where?

Sunday 4 March 2018 starting at 10am to 3pm

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start of the course.

Testwood Lakes, Totton near Southampton

What do I need to bring?

  • Appropriate outdoor, warm, dry clothing for the weather on the day
  • Sturdy, comfortable footwear (preferably wellies)
  • Notebook and pen
  • A camera may be useful to record the design and building process
  • A builders sized bucket to take your willow construction home with you
  • A packed lunch and refreshments
  • Secateurs if you have them available

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided on the day
