Slugs – The good, the bad and the ugly. But which of the 45 British species is which? How do you tell them apart? How can you know if it is a juvenile of a large species of an adult of a small species? If slugs are slow moving why are so many species’ distributions changing so rapidly? This course includes an introduction to slugs and a review of the 45 or so species now present in the UK. This is followed by advice on species identification. Participants are asked to collect and bring some slugs from their own gardens, or elsewhere as this has proved to be an excellent way of helping to map the distributions of this much under-record group species. Instructions for collection and recording will be sent to participants before the event.) All species distributions on the NBN Gateway web pages.
