Trees and Shrubs in Summer

This course will mainly focus on the identification of broad-leaved trees and shrubs, however conifers will also be looked at in less detail. Features such as leaves, flowers, fruits and bark will be used as keys to identification. There will also be an introduction to woodland ecology, history, management and habitat. The course will include both classroom and outdoor sessions and the content is appropriate for anyone wishing to contribute to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements. Bursaries are available for this course. Please contact FSC Flatford Mill for details.

Matt has worked as a research scientist for the Forestry Commission for 17 years. During that time he has worked on the conservation of endangered conifers and other trees in association with the UK National Pinetum at Bedgebury in Kent. He is an Associate Tutor for the FSC, as well as running other identification courses throughout the year.
