We rebuild tropical fisheries with coastal communities

Blue Ventures develops locally-led approaches to marine management that benefit people and nature alike. By listening and responding to basic needs, we design our models to catalyse and sustain marine conservation, unlocking the potential of coastal communities to manage their resources. We work in places where the ocean is vital to local cultures and economies, and are committed to advancing the rights of small-scale fishers throughout the coastal tropics.

Summary Job Description

We are seeking a Grants Manager to oversee the management of our grant lifecycle and reporting on the funding agreements that underpin our work, including managing relationships with foundations and institutional donors and supporting the development of a grants function in Madagascar. This is an exciting and rare opportunity to join an ambitious and growing team in a key function, with opportunities for travel, development and exposure to all our programmes globally.

We are looking for an individual experienced in project and grants manager to manage donor reporting and compliance, and establish processes and workflows to ensure tracking of project progress, and high quality financial and narrative reporting. The role will report to the Head of Implementation in Bristol and work closely with the development, finance and field teams.

The successful candidate will be a confident writer and editor, with proven experience of project and budget management, and experience of developing and maintaining systems to keep track of projects, to ensure accountability and meet audit requirements. Experience in the environmental conservation or international development sectors would be beneficial. In addition to fluency in English, French language skills are highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive and highly organised individual, with an excellent knowledge of project and grant management, the ability to assimilate and interpret high volumes of information and excellent written and spoken communication skills.

We are looking for an individual who is open to new ideas and who embraces innovation, and can demonstrate experience of building effective working partnerships for environmental conservation and/or international development. Assessment of applications will include candidates’ alignment with BV’s core values and mission to support human rights-based approaches to marine conservation and fisheries management.
