Are you passionate about caring for the beach? Want to inspire others too? Why not become a LOVEmyBEACH engagement and events volunteer. Help us spread the word about what we can all do to look after our beautiful beaches and seas.

We are looking for enthusiastic, effective communicators to attend events and talk to people about simple actions they can take to show they love their beach. You could also give talks, meet community groups and approach businesses – using your existing networks to support the LOVEmyBEACH campaign.

Role requirements:

  • Personable, good communicator
  • Enjoy working with the public
  • Passionate about environmental protection and particularly the beaches and seas
  • Understanding of the LOVEmyBEACH campaign (supported by coordinator)

Mutual expectations:

It is not necessary to have personal transport as this role is based around the Fylde and Wyre coast, with most places being accessible by public transport.

Transport costs, either public transport fares or petrol expenses and parking, will be paid.

As a LOVEmyBEACH volunteer you will represent the LOVEmyBEACH campaign and support our aims and messages.

Volunteers must be 18 or over.

There is no specific time commitment to being an engagement volunteer, it will be as and when you are available to attend events and talks, as agreed with the campaign coordinator LOVEmyBEACH have presence at many events throughout the year and would be keen for volunteers to support these.

LOVEmyBEACH is a partnership project funded by United Utilities and Environment Agency, and supported by Fylde, Blackpool and Wyre local authorities and hosted by Keep Britain Tidy. Therefore it is important to be aware of this partnership work and that LOVEmyBEACH is a one voice approach to talking about bathing waters and encouraging people to do their bit.

What you’ll gain:

  • Opportunity to develop skills talking to the public and groups
  • Attendance at events such as Blackpool Air Show and other community events
  • Understanding of key issues affecting beaches and bathing waters and ability to communicate these
  • Company of like-minded people staff and other volunteers
