More Data for Nature Volunteer Co-ordinator
More Data for Nature is an exciting project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts to expand Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust’s successful nature reserve-based monitoring, to a landscape scale.
Working with local groups around Sheffield and Rotherham, and collaborating with other Wildlife Trusts and conservation organisations around the country, the project will develop and implement a landscape scale monitoring framework.
A key part of this project will be to work with a range of local groups on ‘their’ wildlife sites, rolling out SRWT’s monitoring framework across the emerging nature recovery network. The postholder will lead on providing advice on identifying key ecological features for each site, and roll out monitoring of these features, through development of robust survey protocols and volunteer training.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of a wide range of ecological surveying and monitoring techniques across several taxa.
- Experience of devising and delivering high quality training activities for volunteers, ideally in surveying and recording techniques.
- Good knowledge of a range of environmental recording, survey activities and techniques that can be used by volunteers with different skill levels.
- An ability to enthuse, train, motivate and develop volunteers.
