MyPlace Men In Sheds Coordinator
Salary: £22,625.05 per annum pro rata
Closing date: Sunday 22nd July 2018
Location: between Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston & Mere Sands Wood, Rufford
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who has experience and skills in working with the long term unemployed and retired older people on a range of practical schemes that have successfully developed new skills and have resulted in increased employability and self-esteem for participants.
This post is part of the innovative Myplace project, a programme of activity funded by ESIF and The Big Lottery Fund, aiming to address health issues and skills deficits within target audiences through environmental hubs and programmed activity. The post holder will provide, organise and coordinate x2 Men in Sheds projects at our Brockholes and Mere Sands Wood Nature Reserves, encouraging, supporting and enabling older men to participate and engage in their local community and remain physically, mentally and socially active to improve their health outcomes, learn / relearn skills, improve employment / re-employment potential and improve quality of life.
Myplace as a whole will ensure that 555 participants classed as either unemployed or inactive will have been engaged during the lifetime of the project.
As the project grows there will also be the opportunity for the Myplace Men In Sheds Co-ordinator to develop some practical work with younger participants.
Applicants should be proactive and creative in ensuring effective and inclusive recruitment from ‘hard to reach’ communities, whilst maintaining good levels of retention and personal development of participants.
The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, possess practical skills, be self-motivated, able to successfully deliver targets and be able to collaborate with a range of partners, Trust colleagues and groups in order to ensure effective ‘Men in Sheds’ project delivery that integrates appropriately and sensitively into existing site management and activity.
