MyPlace Project Officer

Salary: £22,625.05 per annum

Closing date: Sunday 22nd July 2018

Location: Brockholes Nature Reserve, Preston

We are looking for a Project Officer to focus on creating inspirational activities for young people aged 13-25, as well as those 25 years plus with health issues, delivering a wide range of quality environmental opportunities through ecotherapy sessions, community involvement, personal development, and celebration events.

This post is part of the innovative Myplace project, a programme of activity funded by ESIF and The Big Lottery Fund, aiming to address health issues and skills deficits within target audiences through environmental hubs and programmed activity.  A focus of the role will also aim to support participants into employment and training opportunities. Whilst based at Brockholes, delivery will take place at sites across the project area.

The postholder will be responsible for the co-ordination and deliverance of weekly volunteer challenges at hubs with regular weekend activities, and bespoke ecotherapy project work. The position will also allow the candidate to manage and develop practical conservation tasks as well as environmental project challenges. We are looking for individuals with previous experience in environmental education or youth work; the ideal candidate should demonstrate empathy with those that suffer from mental ill health and an understanding of ways in which we can improve health and wellbeing through ecotherapy. And understanding of the jobs market would also be an advantage.

In return, we offer a friendly and flexible working environment, great opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a positive difference for people and communities across Lancashire and North Merseyside.
