Project Officer – Woodland Creation
The Woodland Trust Grantham £19,000 Ad expires in 1 week Permanent Entry Level, Graduate, Mid Level Full Time
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on others’ land.
The Trust has ambitious targets and aims to plant 64,000,000 native broadleaf woodland trees throughout the UK as part of our 10 year strategic plan. To achieve this ambition, we aim to create over 2,000 hectares of new woodland a year through planting on our estate and with other landowners. As part of the Woodland Creation Team, the Project Officer will encourage and support a range of landowners to create their own woods through a variety of outreach projects.
You will be able to give effective support and co-ordination from the Trust’s Head Office to Woodland Creation Advisers working on a range of outreach projects, throughout the UK.
You’ll have some understanding of woodland creation issues and motivations/challenges for landowners in creating woodland with a good understanding of environmental and countryside/rural issues. You’ll be experienced in working to deadline and budgets.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You’ll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and a good holiday entitlement.
