Are you a dedicated individual who is adaptable and able to work in different areas of the service industry? Do you aspire to work with a great, passionate team in one of our most beautiful unique settings? Then this Service Assistant role could be exactly what you’re looking for.
Having recently re-opened, we are recruiting for service assistants to join the commercial team. These positions will be heavily orientated around customer service and catering, but will also cover areas of retail at our shop, as well as support for weddings and conferencing.
Our service assistants often act as a first point of contact for our visitors, and as such applicants must be outgoing, driven, positive and passionate about the service they provide, and about our charity and the nature reserve itself.
We are currently developing our offering on site and it is a particularly exciting time to join the team as we expand our offering, update our previous offerings and also develop new concepts.
What it’s like to work here
As a Service Assistant at The Wildlife Trust, you’ll be working across our commercial outlets, and will be responsible for providing a warm welcome for visitors, conferences, weddings and special events.
We promote a “one-team” and “blended service” mentality and train our staff to work in all areas across our commercial departments. You will be an extremely dedicated and flexible member of our team, able to use your ability to work throughout our operation.
What you’ll be doing
On a normal shift in our Café you will be preparing and serving fresh food, making coffee’s, talking confidently with our customers, handling payments / using tills and helping keep the space clean, tidy and well presented at all times. We also have various pop up refreshments stools around the Reserve in the Summer months.
Alongside working in the Café, staff also cater for Conferences and Weddings, helping us set up the space, acting as a point of contact for organisers and serving at the event. You will also be working in our shop, keeping the shelves stocked and talking to our visitors about our reserve.
Our venues have varying opening times throughout the year but in the Summer we are normally a 9-5 operation, 7 days a week. In the quiet season we are open Wednesday to Sunday, but our times do flex with the season and business demands.
We are open every weekend, and school holiday times are our busiest periods so staff must be flexible around these dates and be able to work early, late, weekends, half terms and school holidays. As a result, we are looking for candidates with varying availability to cover weekend shifts and peak periods throughout the year.
On occasion you may be asked to support our other café’s and visitor centres in Lancashire, Manchester & North Merseyside. With that in mind, and due to the location of Brockholes nature reserve you will need to have access to your own transport.
