Site Manager – North

ABOUT US
The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity.  We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on others’ land.

THE ROLE
The  Site Manager will represent the Woodland Trust locally, managing a diverse portfolio of woodlands in line with the Trusts standards and ensuring  the safety of our visitors, contractors and volunteers.

You will lead creative woodland management, people engagement and grazing projects, advocating our work, engaging supporters and influencing  others to act.

THE CANDIDATE
With previous experience in land-based management in the forestry or conservation sector, you’ll have a strong track record of project, budget and contract management, successful partnership working and Health and Safety management.

You will have excellent communication skills, be commercially aware and able to build effective partnerships.  A full driving licence is a must have, along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations.  Occasional overnight stays will be required and you’ll be expected to live within a reasonable travel distance of the management area.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You’ll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
