Treescapes Development Lead – South Downs

The Woodland Trust’s vision is a UK rich in native woods and trees for people and wildlife.  Our 10 year strategy increases the role of woods and trees in delivering more ecologically resilient landscapes which are enjoyed and valued by many more people. Our UK-wide Treescapes programme is helping us deliver transformational change in up to 30 geographically defined landscapes. Here we believe woods and trees can make a substantial positive contribution to the landscapes function and its resilience.

The Treescapes Development Lead will take a lead in developing the South Downs Treescape where we want to ensure that ancient woodland and trees across the South Downs are being actively managed, delivering a resilient and accessible woodland resource which is valued, protected and celebrated by residents and visitors. The Treescapes Development Lead will develop plans to deliver this vision, scoping out our current position and creating the contacts, networks and infrastructure for the transformational change.

Along with excellent communication skills you’ll have a proven track record in project management and experience of working with relevant and multiple stakeholders to develop and deliver shared objectives.  You’ll need to be a highly organised strategic thinker with capacity to assimilate and prioritise a large amount of information from multiple levels and focus it on delivering key outcomes for the Trust. With a collaborative approach to achieving results you’ll be talented at developing meaningful partnerships. You will ideally be based in or around the South Downs area.

In return we recognise and value our people. You’ll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with a contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.

This is an 18 month fixed term contract.
