The Seabird Centre at Bempton Cliffs receives around 100,000 visitors a year. We sell a wide range of high quality optical equipment. As a volunteer Binocular Advisor you will be a valued member of our sales team advising customers about the products to ultimately close sales for the benefit of the RSPB.

The skills you need

  • Essential
  • Approachable, with a friendly demeanour

  • Having worked face-to-face with the public
  • Ability to be on the go all day
  • Willingness to undertake appropriate training and personal development
  • Sales experience
  • Fast learner


  • An enthusiasm for birds and other wildlife
  • Familiarity with Bempton Cliffs
  • Own transport
  • Knowledge of some RSPB work
  • Experience working in a similar role
  • A resourceful approach
  • An awareness of Health and Safety
  • Experience of using binoculars and telescopes
  • Own transport and live within one hours drive

Your time

Minimum commitment: Minimum two days a month
Duration: Ongoing
Period: March – October
