Casual Bat Survey Assistant (Seasonal)
I’m looking for voluntary assistants in and around the Manchester area to help with dusk emergence and dawn return-to-roost surveys, from April/May to September/October inclusive. Reasonable travelling expenses are paid. Applications accepted throughout but please apply as early as possible.
This casual work can be a useful addition to the cv of anyone interested in ecology and wildlife conservation. It can be done around your other commitments, perhaps once or twice a week, possibly including weekends. Short-term availability is acceptable. Dawn availability is particularly useful.
With 30 years’ experience of working with bats, I offer a learning opportunity for anyone interested in working with bats.
Existing experience of watching bats in flight and/or using a heterodyne detector is useful.
Punctuality, reliability, good concentration skills and professional approach are vital.
The closer to BL9 you live the more opportunities you are likely to have. Most reasonably-local applicants get the opportunity to participate. Due to the unsocial hours involved, access to a vehicle is usually necessary.
There may be an opportunity for you to gain experience of other aspects of bat and bird survey work.
