Environmental Education Volunteer Officer, Leeds

We are currently recruiting Environmental Education and Green Gym Volunteer Officers to our volunteer leadership training programme!

Deadline for applications: 9am Monday 28th January 2019.

Please note we cannot accept CVs for this role. Applicants must download and fill out the application form available on our website and send it back to us.

More about the role…

Do you care about the world around you, and want to do something to make a difference?

Do you want to work in the environmental sector, but lack the experience to land your first job?

Do you want to share your passion for the environment with the next generation?

If so, then a Volunteer Officer traineeship at Skelton Grange could be just the thing!

You could spend your time learning to teach children about the world around them, and trying your hand at a variety of practical conservation skills. You will gain excellent work experience that will be valued by employers, develop a whole range of transferable skills, take part in a comprehensive training programme, and best of all join a friendly and supportive staff and volunteer team in a green oasis hidden away in South Leeds.

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can commit to two to four days per week (Monday – Friday), for six months or more, in order for you to get the most out of the experience and training on offer. You don’t need experience, just enthusiasm and the desire to work with children or to deliver practical conservation activities.

We can offer you:

  • A designated manager with monthly updates to support you in your role
  • Full Volunteer Officer role description
  • Training package worth over £1000 including leadership, conservation skills, working with children, first aid, safeguarding, health & safety and risk assessment – invaluable for employment in this sector!
  • Excellent work experience to help you land that job in the environmental sector
  • Local travel expenses (up to a reasonable value / distance).

Previous volunteers have gone onto work for organisations such as The Wildlife Trusts, Sustrans, RSPB, Yorkshire Wildlife Park, Groundwork, Leeds City Council and The Conservation Volunteers!

The Conservation Volunteers are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. References for prospective volunteers will be followed up and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be carried out before volunteering opportunities begin.

If you’d like to join our email list we can keep in touch with you about volunteer opportunities, volunteering days and other events that you can get involved in – just email us and ask to be added to the email list.

How to Apply

To apply email us (skelton@tcv.org.uk) for an application form or download one from our website and send it back to us before the closing date of 9am Monday 28th January 2019. If successful, your start date will be as soon as possible after interview.
