Groundwork Land Traineeship

A Groundwork Land Traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience designed to prepare young people for their future careers by helping them to become ‘work ready’.

Our Traineeships include a high quality work experience placement, a Level 1 Diploma in Practical Countryside Skills, support with English and maths and up to 25 hours of employability support. Qualification modules vary from Landscaping, Horticulture and Conservation to Plant Identification, Tools Maintenance AND you’ll get a CSCS card and IOSH certificate.

We also offer Traineeships in Construction and Youth Work. Please get in touch if you are interested in either of these courses.

Eligibility Criteria

Groundwork Traineeships are designed for unemployed young people with limited work experience and are ideal for people who are considered to be ‘pre-Apprentice’ level. We are looking to recruit young people with the motivation to find and start work with support from our staff team.

Applicants must have a date of birth between 01/09/1992 and 31/08/1998.

We are unable to recruit learners who have any higher than a Level 2 qualification. If you are unsure of the level of your current qualifications please see the Gov.UK website or give us a call to discuss.

We are able to take learners from any location, but length and cost of travel may influence our decision to accept someone onto a traineeship.

Next Steps

Traineeships are designed to support young people into paid employment or into an apprenticeship of their choice. This is not guaranteed, however, and will depend largely on the effort and input of the individual throughout the course. Participants will benefit from maths and English lessons, which will instantly increase their employability, as well as sessions to build soft work place skills and support to develop their CVs, job applications and interview techniques.

Groundwork Trainees will receive ongoing support from course leaders, an assigned supervisor during their work experience placement and our Functional Skills tutors. They will benefit from the experience and careers guidance from the wider Groundwork staff team. Travel expenses are covered.
