Peatland Habitat Monitor

The Yorkshire Peat Partnership is a peatland restoration programme that delivers restoration by blocking drains and revegetating bare peat in the Yorkshire uplands. We want to develop a programme for long term monitoring on sites where restoration work has taken place with the help from volunteers. Monitoring will take place in upland areas of Yorkshire and you’ll get to enjoy some our most wild landscapes in the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the North Yorkshire Moors. Knowledge of upland plant species is desirable as you’ll need to know your heather from your bilberry, plus be savvy with Sphagnum. An induction workshop is planned and training for basic plant ID is also available if required.

Commitment: Flexible to suit volunteer- a couple of hours a week on a rota basis

Duration: Surveying season is between November to March
