Species Protection Volunteer

Osprey Species Protection – working on a rota system you will be responsible for carrying out surveillance of osprey nest and surrounding area, monitoring site, and liaison with daily volunteers and Wildlife Crime Officer, particularly during nightshifts. Also monitoring of beaver populations around the reserve mainly by reviewing camera footage.

Tasks

  • Working on a rota system you will be responsible for carrying out surveillance of osprey nest and surrounding area and monitoring the whole site.
  • To engage with public in hides and liaison with daily volunteers, particularly during dayshifts
  • To assist the ranger with a variety of practical tasks around the reserve when not on osprey watch shifts.

Description of the skills/qualifications/fitness required

  • able to work unsociable hours our on-site hides including nightshifts
  • ability to work as part of a group
  • ability to communicate with the public
  • reasonable standard of fitness
  • reliability and attention to detail
  • own transport an advantage
