Trustee

Are you passionate about wildlife? Do you have the vision and the connections to us drive forward our ambition to give wildlife more space to thrive for local people to enjoy and value? Then we need to hear from you!

Cheshire Wildlife Trust is governed by a Board of up to 16 trustees. As Board members, Trustees hold collective responsibility for the charity’s strategic direction and governance.

Positions are voluntary with a minimum commitment of four meetings per year.  Once elected at an AGM, Trustees can serve a maximum of two terms of four years and a third term as the Chair of the Board or a committee (NB terms of office are currently under review).

We are looking for Trustees who can bring with them the skills and dedication needed to help us continue to look after local wildlife and help people care for and connect with nature.

The following skills are valuable:

  • Governance & leadership
    Conservation/ ecology/ sustainable land management
  • Legal matters and/or land agency
  • Health & Safety
  • Sales & Marketing or business management
  • HR
  • Community engagement/ Education

We are open to applicants from the private, public and voluntary sectors, those seeking their first Trustee role and more experienced Trustees or non-executive directors.  We wish to increase the diversity of our Board and so attributes such as age, ethnicity, gender, background and geographical area are also taken into account during trustee recruitment to try to ensure a balanced and representative board.
