Our visitor volunteers work across the visitor centre and the lakeside viewpoint, making a large flexible team whose focus is great customer service and promoting this special nature reserve.
We know that wildlife inspires people, so interpreting the wildlife here is important, whether its pointing out swans or swallows, hoverflies or hawthorn, you will inspire visitors to get closer to nature.
The visitors centre will have basic refreshment facilities and equipment to hire, you will help visitors get what they need. You will also collect car parking payments at the till and help with keeping the welcome area clean and tidy.
RSPB membership really is the lifeblood of the society and underpins every single thing we do. Introducing visitors to the idea of membership is important too.
You will have the confidence to strike up a conversation with strangers and a desire to help, an enthusiasm for conservation and wildlife; but most importantly of all you will need a friendly demeanour and a ready smile.
Full induction and training for the role will be provided as well as the opportunity to attend a whole host of training opportunities we offer to our volunteers here, such as health and safety, wildlife ID courses and even face painting training.
