Woodland Working Party – Pepper Wood
A remnant of the once widespread ‘Feckenham Forest’ of Worcestershire, Pepper Wood boasts an exceptional diversity of tree and shrub species. A good network of rides and several waymarked trails give visitors the chance to explore this wonderful site.
The volunteer group are looking for new members to join them at some of their task days throughout the year. The work of the group falls into two main elements: Coppicing, which lasts from September to April, and path maintenance, running from May to August.
They also get involved with charcoal burning once or twice a year, usually after the coppicing has been completed.
The group meet on Wednesdays or Sundays and gloves and tool are supplied. No experience is necessary.
They are a very friendly group and welcome all new members of any ability so if you can spare a few days and would like to get involved please get in touch.
