Yorkshire Peat Partnership Voluntary Trainee
Yorkshire Peat Partnership’s (YPP) objective is to substantially increase the amount of peatland restoration activity in Yorkshire’s uplands through a combination of restoration, management and monitoring. Through our work want to preserve the peat that remains and help to reinstate functioning, peat forming ecosystems. This will help restore the hydrological processes, increase biodiversity and reduce the amount of carbon loss.
In this role you will be working alongside the YPP Research Officer to feed into the three-year research project investigating the ecosystem service impacts of peatland restoration. If you like the idea of being out in the field collecting data (vegetation, hydrological and greenhouse gas flux surveying) in some of Yorkshires most beautiful landscape, combined with analysis of the data when you’re back in the office; this could be just the role for you.
The role is for 12 months and will be between 2-3 days a week, there is flexibility with days and this can discussed at interview. You can expect a competitive training budget, travel expenses and you will be based at our offices in Skipton.
