About The Role

WWT Washington Wetland Centre is a customer focused visitor attraction in Tyne and Wear. Our reserve provides an inspirational example of how sound conservation management allows wildlife to thrive in the midst of urbanisation and benefits our local and wider communities with green and blue tranquil places.

We are looking for a motivated and engaging Reserve Warden to join our team. The main duties of the post are to assist in the management of the nature reserve, including the development and management of habitats, reserve infrastructure and species monitoring in line with management statements and approved management plans. You will also play an active role in both onsite and online engagement with our site and core conservation messaging.

This is a full time position working 5 days out of 7 including some weekends and bank holidays.

About You

To join as our Reserve Warden you’ll need:

  • A positive and proactive approach across all work areas
  • Previous experience of using machinery including tractors, brush cutters, mowers etc.
  • Educated to a higher education qualification in natural sciences or conservation management
  • Great communication skills and be able to build strong working relationships with the Washington team
  • Some experience of working with and/or supervising volunteers
