The West Cumbria Rivers Trust is an environmental charity working to preserve and improve the wildlife and habitats of rivers, lakes and the surrounding countryside in West Cumbria.
Within this area are many rivers and lakes including the river Derwent to the east of the area, the Ellen to the north and the Esk to the south. We also have significant lakes in our area including Derwentwater, Thirlmere, Loweswater and Ennerdale.
These waters are home to beautiful and endangered wildlife, they are critical in supplying water to businesses and thousands of people in the north west, they support strong vibrant communities, and they run through some of the most beautiful views you’ll see anywhere in the world.
